📅 - Communications carrier Level 3 Communications (Level3.com) announced on Tuesday that it has appointed John T. Reed, a director of merchant bank McCarthy Group, Inc. and chairman of HMG Properties, to its board of directors.
Before joining McCarthy Group in 1997, he worked for more than 30 years at Arthur Andersen, helping closely held and publicly-held companies to structure acquisitions, sales and mergers. The addition of Reed, says Level 3, brings the company's board of directors to 13 members. Reed will join Class III of Level 3's board of directors, whose term expires at the company's 2003 annual meeting of stockholders. "Level 3 has emerged as a clear leader in the communications industry following the market difficulties of the past few years," Mr. Reed said. "Level 3 enjoys strong management, strong liquidity and the operational capabilities of one of the world's most advanced fiber-optic networks. I look forward to working with the rest of the Board to help Level 3 continue capitalizing on opportunities that create value for investors."
