Feb, 2003 : Level 3 Announces New Network Service Deals


level3.com logo📅 - Communications carrier Level 3 Communications (Level3.com) announced on Monday that it has signed network service agreements with The George Washington University, the University of Oregon and Atlanta-based research and education network aggregator Southern Crossroads.

According to the terms of their respective agreements, The George Washington University has purchased metropolitan dark fiber services and the University of Oregon has purchased (3)CrossRoads Internet access and private line services.
The Southern Crossroads (SoX), says Level 3, will be using private line and (3)CrossRoads services to provide Internet access and other broadband services to the University of Miami and Florida Atlantic University. Level 3 says SoX is designed to facilitate access to digital communications services for education, research and economic development in the southeast region and across the United States.
"Driven by grid computing and other evolving applications, we're seeing increasing demand for bandwidth in the research and academic community," said Robert Hagens, senior vice president of Architecture and Deployment for Level 3. "We're pleased to be working closely with a growing number of research and academic organizations in the U.S. and Europe. Level 3 has become a leader in providing the research and academic community with cost-effective, customized broadband services that deliver unsurpassed network reliability, scalability and control."
