Apr, 2003 : HP SAN/NAS Solution Targets Exchange Market

📅 - Computer systems maker HP (hp.com) announced on Tuesday that it has introduced a solution that increases the efficiencies of consolidating a Microsoft Exchange 2000 environment on storage area network by adding a network attacked storage device that allows file-level access and file consolidation.

The solution, says HP, is based on the HP StorageWorks NAS b3000, which allows the "fusing" of SAN and NAS environments into a single storage pool. The solution allows high-performance application services to access data directly from the same storage pool used by the NAS device for file data, resulting in more efficient use of storage resources.
According to HP, the Microsoft-endorsed solution guides customers through configuration, sizing, deployment and best practices, demonstrating that Windows-powered NAS fused with a SAN-based Exchange 2000 infrastructure can operate in an integrated environment.
"Customers want integrated, tested and supported solutions that lower the cost of storage and improve manageability," said Roger Archibald, vice president and general manager, HP Infrastructure and NAS Division. "Our solution has been jointly developed with Microsoft to assure customers that it will be fully interoperable with Exchange 2000 environments to support IT consolidation initiatives."
