Apr, 2003 : Ingrian Integrates Tivoli into Appliances

📅 April 11, 2003 - Data privacy and protection solution developer Ingrian Networks (ingrian.com) announced on Friday that it has formed an agreement with IBM to integrate components of IBM's Tivoli Access Manager software into Ingrian's network security hardware platform, providing customers with performance and security enhancements.

Under the terms of the agreement, Ingrian will embed its appliances with IBM Tivoli Access Manager's digital identity services, which identify users, establish entitlements and determine the business context of a transaction being conducted. Embedding the capabilities, says Ingrian, allows the processing of user access rights to take place on the Ingrian hardware, rather than on the Web server, reducing the server's burden and increasing overall performance.
"Ingrian has a solid history of product deployments at major financial, government, healthcare, and other institutions that ensure privacy of the most sensitive pieces of data sent between a consumer's Web browser, the Web and application servers, and the storage infrastructure," said Rod Murchison, vice president of product and corporate development, Ingrian Networks. "By working with IBM in identity management, we're helping our customers build resiliency into their e-business so they can manage threats, increase performance, and reduce costs."

📅 Apr 10, 2003 - RampRate Study Evaluates Streaming Audience - According to the results of a study released this week by technology advisor RampRate (ramprate.com), the online audience for streaming media continues to dislike the prospect of paying for the content, even as the sites providing paid streaming content proliferate. Conducted by Synovate on behalf of RampRate, the survey polled 1,383 online Americans to determine attitudes about paying for streaming Internet audio and video content. RampRate says the study reveals that 68 percent of respondents dislike paying for streaming audio and video, with 47.5 percent of the opinion that the Internet should be free, and 20 percent agreeing that paying is ?cumbersome and a turn-off.?

(worldcom.com) submitted its plan for reorganization this week, saying it intends to emerge from bankruptcy with a new name and a new chief financial officer, carrying only a small part of its former debt load under a plan that gives creditors more control of the company. (netcraft.com) released the results of its April Web Server Survey this week, indicating some of the big differences in the platform building business, as well as some changes in the systems running at certain notable locations.
