Apr 11, 2003 : FatWire Adds Support for MySQL Database

📅 - Dynamic content management software provider FatWire Software (fatwire.com) announced on Friday that its recently launched FatWire Spark portal content management for the Sun ONE Portal Server will include support for the open-source MySQL database software.

FatWire Spark pCM for the Sun ONE Portal Server, says FatWire, provides faster and easier content distribution and portal management, and now stores content in the MySQL database to make it available for dynamic, personalized delivery within the portal. Through Spark's Business User Interface, says the company, portal users have direct access to granular level content.
FatWire says a five-user version of the Spark pCM software is available for free for customers of Sun ONE Portal Server. The free version of the software was announced earlier this week.
"FatWire chose to support the MySQL database because there is an increased demand by users who want to get their portal projects up and running without the added cost of other databases," said Bob Ronchi, vice president of strategic alliances at FatWire. "The new support for MySQL expands Spark pCM user options for evolving enterprises."
