The Web design contest ran between May 13 and June 9 on Hostway's Web site and in the June and July issues of Wired magazine. Winners of the contest were eligible to receive free Web hosting for life in addition to a $1000 cash prize. "We created this contest because Hostway exists to help people move their Web sites forward by providing a secure, reliable and affordable Web hosting environment," said John Lee, Marketing Director of Hostway. "The response and quality of the participants was overwhelming and a tribute to the creative talent Web designers express on the dynamic medium that the Internet allows." The contest received over 500 qualified entries. Finalists were selected by a panel of judges from Hostway and Wired, with the eventual winners being chosen through a vote by the public. Hostway is a Chicago-based Web hosting provider.
