Colohouse was a U.S.-based infrastructure provider focused on colocation, cloud, managed data center services, connectivity, and later a wider mix of dedicated servers, bare metal and VPS-style hosting. The company was incorporated in 2007 and opened commercially in 2009 in downtown Miami, Florida. It no longer operates as a standalone hosting brand. The major change came on April 2, 2024, when Colohouse acquired Hivelocity; by February 2025, the combined business had completed integration and continued under the Hivelocity name. Today, colohouse.com redirects to hivelocity.net, so Colohouse is best treated as a historical/inactive provider rather than an active company to order from directly.

A clearly documented original founder name is not easy to verify publicly. The best-known long-term executive figure was Paul Bint, who served as President and CEO from 2010 and became strongly associated with Colohouse during its growth years. Later, Jeremy Pease led the platform during the acquisition-driven phase. Another important technical name was Savvas Bout, founder of Netrouting in 2007, who became part of the Colohouse story after the Netrouting/Data Facilities acquisition in 2018.

Colohouse was never just a small shared-hosting company. Its real identity was built around Colocation Hosting, Data Center Services, Cloud Infrastructure, Managed Hosting, Dedicated / Bare Metal Servers, VPS / Cloud VPS, Connectivity, Private Cloud, Hybrid Cloud, Backup / Disaster Recovery, Managed Security, and compliance-oriented infrastructure. This made the company more suitable for businesses, SaaS platforms, agencies, IT departments, financial projects, healthcare-related workloads, and organizations that needed physical infrastructure with cloud and managed-service options around it.

The company grew heavily through acquisitions. After the Valterra Partners and 1547 CSR investment period, Colohouse added platforms such as Lume Cloud, Quonix, Data102, TurnKey Internet and Steadfast. These additions brought more cloud, bare metal, private cloud, managed security, storage, disaster recovery and regional data center coverage into the portfolio. By 2022, Colohouse was associated with services across 29 data centers worldwide, with 10 operated locations, while later transaction material placed the platform at 25+ locations in 20+ cities before the Hivelocity integration.

The service was mainly English-language and U.S.-commercial in character, with USD as the natural billing currency. It was not a mass-market multilingual shared hosting brand; it was closer to a U.S.-centered enterprise infrastructure provider that expanded into broader global infrastructure through acquisition.

💰 Price & Cost

Colohouse was not positioned as a cheap entry-level web host. Colocation, private infrastructure, managed cloud and custom enterprise environments were mostly quote-driven, and pricing depended on power, rack space, bandwidth, hardware, support level, contract term and compliance needs.

After the TurnKey Internet hosting and dedicated-server offering was merged into the Colohouse portfolio in 2023, the lower-end side became easier to understand, with cloud VPS, dedicated bare metal servers, enterprise dedicated servers, control-panel options and licensing available from the same provider. Some promotional VPS-style offers appeared at low monthly entry prices, but the real value of Colohouse was not low-cost hosting. It was the ability to combine rack space, network, cloud, dedicated infrastructure, backup, disaster recovery and managed help under one provider.

Retail-style hosting and server payments were handled in USD, while larger colocation or infrastructure contracts were naturally handled through commercial billing and invoice-style arrangements. In the later combined Hivelocity ecosystem, card payments, PayPal and wire/bank-style payments were available. A 30-day money-back guarantee appeared in some later hosting/VPS promotional contexts, but this should not be treated as a general guarantee for custom colocation, private cloud or negotiated enterprise infrastructure.

🏢 Data Center

Data center infrastructure was the strongest part of Colohouse. The original business started around Miami colocation, and the company later expanded through a network of acquired and integrated facilities. Important locations connected to the Colohouse footprint included Miami, Orangeburg / New York, Albany, Colorado Springs, Philadelphia, Chicago, Dallas, Phoenix, Edison, and Amsterdam / The Hague.

The company’s model was built around carrier-neutral colocation, managed infrastructure, redundant power and cooling, private connectivity, cloud connectivity and support for enterprise deployments. During its active years, the platform was relevant for customers that needed geographic diversity, disaster recovery locations, private cloud extensions, or stronger infrastructure than a simple hosting account could provide.

Parts of the expanded footprint carried a 100% network and power uptime SLA, especially in the TurnKey-style colocation environment, while the broader combined Hivelocity platform later used formal network uptime commitments around high-availability dedicated and infrastructure services. Colohouse was also associated with compliance-oriented infrastructure, including SOC-focused audits and environments suitable for HIPAA and PCI-sensitive deployments.

The network side was also a key strength. Colohouse worked in carrier-dense facilities and used blended connectivity rather than depending on a single transit route. Historical connectivity and carrier context included providers such as Cogent and Lumen / Level 3, along with other metro, transport and peering relationships depending on location. In 2025, after the Hivelocity integration, the Chicago and Miami colocation services were sold to Digital Realty, which further shows how the former Colohouse footprint continued to evolve after the standalone brand disappeared.

✍️ Customer Support

Colohouse support was structured for infrastructure customers, not only for basic website tickets. The company supported customers through a client center / support portal, email, phone and live chat, with 24/7/365 availability attached to the later hosting and dedicated-server operation.

This support model matched the type of customer Colohouse served. Colocation, bare metal, private cloud and hybrid infrastructure customers usually needed help with provisioning, remote hands, migration, hardware coordination, routing, outages, capacity planning and operational requests. Colohouse worked better as a managed infrastructure partner than as a simple low-cost web host.

The company also placed a strong emphasis on customer experience during the acquisition period. The 2023 integration of TurnKey Internet hosting into Colohouse was meant to reduce brand fragmentation and bring hosting, dedicated servers, cloud and colocation into one service path.

🔨 Control Panel

Control panel features were not the center of the original Colohouse identity, because the company’s strongest products were data center infrastructure, cloud and connectivity. The main management layer was a client/account portal and support system for service requests, billing, tickets and infrastructure coordination.

After the hosting and dedicated-server range expanded, more traditional control-panel options became part of the catalog. The later Colohouse hosting range included control panel offerings and licensing, and the combined Hivelocity platform supported familiar server and hosting management options such as cPanel / WHM and Plesk where appropriate. For infrastructure customers, account access, support portal handling, dedicated-server management, root/IPMI-level access and later Hivelocity’s unified management environment were more important than a shared-hosting-style dashboard.

🎯 Conclusion

Colohouse was a serious infrastructure provider with real technical depth. Its strengths were colocation, cloud infrastructure, managed services, network connectivity, dedicated / bare metal hosting, compliance-oriented environments, and a useful multi-location footprint. It was a good fit for companies that needed dependable infrastructure, regional data center options, human technical support and room to scale.

The weaker side was brand continuity. Colohouse expanded quickly through acquisitions, which gave it more capabilities but also made the brand less clear over time. After the 2024 Hivelocity acquisition and 2025 full integration, the Colohouse name effectively became historical. The infrastructure value did not simply disappear, but the standalone Colohouse business did.

For new customers, Colohouse itself is no longer the correct active provider to evaluate. The practical successor is Hivelocity, while parts of the former colocation footprint also continued through later facility and service transitions. Colohouse is best remembered as a capable U.S. colocation and managed infrastructure brand that became part of a larger bare metal and cloud infrastructure platform.
