The Vietnam Internet Network Information Center (VNNIC) is an agency affiliated with the Ministry of Information and Communications (MIC). Established on April 28, 2000, VNNIC is responsible for managing, allocating, supervising, and promoting the use of internet resources within Vietnam. This includes domain names, IP addresses (IPv4/IPv6), and Autonomous System Numbers (ASN). VNNIC also provides guidance related to internet technologies and statistics, and participates in international internet-related activities.Key Activities and Events
VNNIC is actively involved in numerous initiatives aimed at promoting the development of internet infrastructure and resources in Vietnam. Key activities and events include:
Bilateral Cooperation with APNIC: VNNIC has worked on promoting a bilateral cooperation strategy with APNIC (Asia Pacific Network Information Centre) to enhance the management of internet resources in the region.
Collaboration with KISA: VNNIC and the Korea Internet & Security Agency (KISA) have strengthened their partnership to further the development of internet resources.
Virtual Meetings with JPNIC: VNNIC and JPNIC (Japan Network Information Center) met virtually to explore further cooperation on internet resource management.
IPv6 for Gov Program: In 2021, the Ministry of Information and Communications launched the IPv6 for Gov Program for the period 2021-2025, aiming to facilitate the transition to IPv6 across government systems in Vietnam.
Workshops on Internet Resources: VNNIC organized several online workshops on key topics like IPv6, DNSSEC, and NIX (National Internet Exchange) in collaboration with international partners.

The national DNS .VN system is a key technical infrastructure managed and operated by VNNIC, which ensures the continuous and secure operation of .VN domain names on the internet. Key responsibilities of VNNIC include:
Managing the .VN top-level domain and second-level domains (such as .com.vn, .net.vn, .org.vn, etc.).
Delegating the management of the .VN domain name space to other organizations in compliance with relevant laws and policies.
Responding to queries regarding .VN domain names and ensuring that domain name queries are handled efficiently, securely, and without disruption.
