*📜 Plan description
Three hyper-converged servers form this XS Cloud Core and carry both the first workloads and the cloud platform itself. Each server uses Intel Xeon E3-1230v6, 4C/8T, 64GB RAM, 960GB Intel D3-S4610 SATA SSD, dual 1Gbit networking, 500Mbps public bandwidth. In cluster terms that works out to 3x Intel Xeon E3-1230v6 12C/24T, 192GB of raw RAM, and about 2.88TB of raw local NVMe or SSD capacity before Ceph replication policy is applied. Cloud Cores must start at three servers, and the platform notes that raw cores, compute cores, vCPU ratio, raw RAM, RAM for compute, and RAM for provisioning all shape the usable VM footprint. The pricing table lists XS at $0.81 per hour, $19.44 per day, $136.08 for 7 days, $583.20 on a 30-day term, $539.46 with a 1-year term, $501.55 with a 2-year term, $466.56 with a 3-year term, $419.90 with a 4-year term, and $384.91 with a 5-year commitment. The page also advertises a 30 day money-back window and free trial or PoC paths up to 30 days, and it shows the calculator with Ashburn and Amsterdam location choices while the broader platform also offers Singapore for some deployments. Optional assisted management pricing is separated behind a checkbox and carries an $800 base fee plus per-box fees.
Built on OpenStack and Ceph with full root access and fixed-cost infrastructure. Deployment can be ready in about 45 seconds or on schedule, and the same ordering flow supports trials, PoCs, production purchases, cloud expansion, invoice payment, budgeting, monitoring, documentation, and support inside the OpenMetal Central portal. The portal includes a ticketing system, 24/7 emergency support, contact details for the support team, and Datadog-based hardware monitoring. Standard OpenStack features do not add separate license fees. Migration assistance, ramp pricing, and direct collaboration with cloud engineers are part of the operating model, while optional assisted management on 1 to 5 year agreements carries an additional base fee of $800 plus per-box fees. Public IP space is leased separately, egress uses included allotments with 95th percentile billing for overages rather than simple per-GB cloud billing, the network SLA baseline is 99.96%, DDoS protection is included, and the service is offered from OpenMetal facilities in the United States, the Netherlands, and Singapore.

📄 Editorial Review
OpenMetal (est. 2021) is a serious infrastructure provider built around open-source private cloud rather than low-end mass-market hosting. The business was originally created by InMotion Hosting, and the whole platform is shaped around giving customers a practical alternative to hyperscale public cloud bills. The leadership is visible, with Todd Robinson serving as co-founder and president, and the technical direction is clearly centered on making OpenStack and Ceph easier to consume in production without forcing customers to buy and maintain their own hardware. The product range is broader than a normal hosting company, but it remains focused on infrastructure, not shared hosting for simple websites. Their main catalog includes Hosted Private Cloud, On-Demand Private Cloud powered by OpenStack, Bare Metal Dedicated Servers, Ceph Storage Clusters, GPU Servers & Clusters, Cloud Expansion Nodes, Spot Hardware, and Managed / Assisted Private Cloud options. That makes the platform much more relevant for SaaS companies, cloud providers, MSPs, Kubernetes-heavy teams, storage-intensive projects, AI workloads, and organizations trying to move away from AWS, Azure, or GCP than for beginners who only need a basic cPanel account.
The strongest point is the architecture philosophy. OpenMetal gives customers full root access, production-ready deployment in about 45 seconds, dedicated hardware, and a cloud stack based on OpenStack + Ceph instead of proprietary lock-in. The core private cloud starts as a 3-node hyperconverged cluster, which is a meaningful difference from VPS-style products that start tiny and scale later. This also explains why OpenMetal feels more like an IaaS platform than a traditional hosting shop.
The website is essentially English-only, and pricing is shown in USD.
