Apr 27, 2004 : MCI Expands Managed Security Offerings

📅 April 27, 2004 - MCI (mci.com) announced on Tuesday that it has expanded and enhanced its managed security solution offerings with the introduction of intrusion protection, vulnerability scanning, an anti-virus/anti-spam offering, and new managed firewalls. MCI said its expanded portfolio of managed security services allows businesses to acquire all their security solutions from a single provider.

"The need to protect critical company information is a growing concern and focus for small, medium and large businesses worldwide," says Wayne Huyard, president of US sales and service at MCI. "MCI's managed security solutions provide a comprehensive, multi-layered approach to security that is essential to protecting the integrity of our customers' data, applications and networks."
In conjunction with the announcement, MCI said that it has entered into a partnership with VeriSign (verisign.com) to deliver security solutions worldwide. Partnering with VeriSign adds VeriSign's Intelligence and Control Services to MCI's security services portfolio. The partnership will also produce co-branded authentication services, set for availability in May.

MCI, formerly Worldcom, officially emerged from bankruptcy protection earlier last week.
