Under the new agreements, Rackspace says it will host and deliver the Woyano Pro social media platform, which enables users to share content and network. Rackspace will also host Wadja, a traditional social networking site designed for mobile devices.
"Outsourcing the hosting of social media sites is growing because the business owners want to focus on engaging users and developing new interactive features that will capture and keep new members, rather than worrying about managing the hosting platform," says Doug Loewe, managing director of EMEA at Rackspace. "These types of Web sites experience huge peaks and troughs in demand and the need for fast response times to increase bandwidth is imperative. That is where we come in, as experts in hosting we have the infrastructure in place to cope with such demands for our customers."
Last week, a customer survey conducted by Rackspace revealed that virtualization is ready to support mission-critical applications.
