📅 September 4, 2007 - Dedicated hosting provider The Planet (theplanet.com -> softlayer.com -> ibm.com) announced on Tuesday it has launched its new dedicated backup server which includes R1Soft's (r1soft.com) CDPServer continuous data protection software.

The solution offers one of the lowest costs per gigabyte in the industry, enabling customers to select from three storage options of 500GB, 1TB or 1.5TB at introductory pricing that ranges from 27 cents to 56 cents per gigabyte through September. The backup solution delivers bare-metal recovery which enables small to large business customers to recover servers to their original known state. With unique delegated administration functionality provided on The Planet's dedicated backup servers, the new R1Soft solution is ideal for resellers who need backup capacity for their clients. All three offerings provide resellers with the capability to support a limitless number of clients.

"It takes a single data-loss incident to learn a hard business lesson about the value of backup solutions," says The Planet's director of product management Urvish Vashi.
