Jun 22, 2005 : Vividas Picks Akamai for Streaming
📅 - Online content and business accelerator Akamai Technologies (akamai.com) announced on Wednesday that video technology and products provider Vividas (vividas.com) is using the Akamai platform to stream movie trailers for United International Pictures' films, War of the Worlds and Madagascar, across international markets.
Akamai and Vividas technologies are being used to showcase a trailer of the sci-fi epic War of the Worlds, slated for a June 29 worldwide release, in areas including the United Kingdom, France, Germany, Spain, Sweden, Taiwan, South Korea, Mexico, Brazil and Australia. The two companies are also teaming up to deliver a global movie trailer for DreamWorks' European release of Madagascar in July.
"War of the Worlds and Madagascar are both digitally rich movies, with many special effects -- content perfect for engaging users in full screen video over the Web," says Neil Speakman, executive chairman of Vividas. "Therefore, we needed a platform like Akamai's to be able to support the global demand for these movie trailers."
Vividas enables viewers to watch full-screen, high-quality, video content on the Internet without downloading any software. The technology has been used in streaming projects encompassing advertising, film trailers, music videos, and internal corporate communications.
