Oct 4, 2005 : Web Host Host Ireland Cuts .ie Pricing
📅 - Irish ISP and Web hosting provider Host Ireland (hostireland.com -> dediserve.com) announced on Monday that it had reduced pricing for its .ie domains by 83 percent to ?9.95. "This is the first time in the Irish market that the local domains have been offered at the same pricing point as their international rivals," says David Moran, managing director of Host Ireland. "By offering the .IE domains at ?9.95 we are testing the hypothesis that far more businesses would take advantage of the namespace if it were made more affordable." Moran says the ?9.95 price will only be offered for the first 1,000 names registered, on the condition that customers host their registered domain with Host Ireland. Host Ireland says the .ie domain is particularly attractive because the registry overseeing the domain has strict guidelines for granting names and the fact that with so few registrations, many "good" names are still available.
