Jan, 2000 : Microsoft Planning Software Hosting Push
📅 - Software giant Microsoft (microsoft.com) is planning a major move into hosting within the next year, according to reports. The company will offer a hosted version of Sharepoint, its document sharing and collaboration platform, in addition to hosted CRM and ERP software. According to reports, the CRM solution should be available in the second half of 2006 with ERP following shortly after. Microsoft has not officially announced any of its plans but analysts say the moves are part of a larger push into offering software as a service and a response to the strength of rival hosted solutions such as Salesforce.com's hosted CRM, Netsuite CRM and IBM's on demand messaging. Currently, partners such as NaviSite and ePartners host Microsoft applications for customers.
