📅 March 6, 2006 - Web hosting provider Interland (interland.com ), soon to be known as Web.com, announced on Monday that it had made Microsoft (microsoft.com) its preferred platform for delivering hosting services, and that it will collaborate with the software giant to promote Microsoft solutions through its Web hosting operations.

According to Interland, the partnership includes a co-marketing arrangement through which the companies will offer services through channel partners. Both companies intend to explore opportunities for business development, marketing and sales.

"We are excited to forge a partnership with Microsoft," says Jeff Stibel, President and CEO, Interland. "Microsoft's hosted products and services on the Windows platform provide customers with operational benefits that enable them to easily produce cost effective websites. It is no surprise that Windows customers are some of the most loyal in the industry."

Microsoft says it is committed to working with hosting providers to meet the growing demand among small and medium-sized businesses for hosted solutions.
