Fujitsu Tests Modular Diamond Spin Architecture for Quantum Scale




📅 - Fujitsu has built a diamond spin quantum computer prototype using tin vacancy centers and photonic integrated circuits, aiming to make modular quantum systems easier to scale. The machine operates at minus 271.6 degrees Celsius and connects to Fujitsu's hybrid quantum platform, but commercial relevance still depends on proving that the architecture can expand beyond laboratory scale reliably.

The prototype puts Fujitsu behind a different hardware route from the superconducting systems dominating much of the quantum computing investment cycle.
