📅 - Microsoft has extended hotpatching for Windows Server 2022 Datacenter: Azure Edition until October 2027, giving eligible operators another year of monthly security updates that can apply without routine restarts. The extension does not cover every Windows Server 2022 deployment, and it does not remove reboot planning for non-security Windows updates or other components such as .NET fixes.
For infrastructure teams, this is less about a feature extension than a maintenance window calculation. Servers enrolled in hotpatch updates will keep receiving monthly security patches through the same cadence for an extra year beyond the previous October 2026 mainstream cutoff for this capability.
