Zayo and Equinix Launch AI Infrastructure Blueprint to Scale Connectivity
📅 - Global communications infrastructure provider Zayo, in partnership with Equinix, has launched a joint initiative designed to bring clarity to the complex question of how next-generation digital infrastructure should be structured to support artificial intelligence workloads at scale.
The initiative, known as the AI Infrastructure Blueprint, lays out a framework for aligning high-capacity fiber networks, interconnection hubs, and AI-specific data centers dedicated to both training and inference.
The launch comes at a time when AI development is accelerating rapidly, while enterprises and neocloud providers often face a lack of guidance on how best to design the underlying infrastructure. [...][... Check source for end of article ...]

📅 - Amsterdam Approves Equinix Data Center Despite Power Limits - Equinix has secured permission to build a large data center in Amsterdam-Zuidoost, despite the city's freeze on new facilities, with only one of four towers moving ahead as power constraints delay the full project and sharpen questions over grid capacity, drinking water use, housing plans and who gets priority in urban infrastructure through 2036 and possibly beyond.
For Amsterdam, this is less a real estate story than an allocation fight. The city wants more homes in Amstel III, an old office and industrial zone being remade into a mixed residential and employment district. Thousands of apartments are planned. At the same time, a major American data center operator has a preexisting path [...]
📅 - IBM Mainframe Hardware Moves Into Standard Colocation Racks - IBM has widened its z17 and LinuxONE 5 portfolio with compact single-frame and rack-mount systems, aiming mainframe-class computing at data centers where floor space, power economics and specialist skills are becoming harder constraints, while giving enterprises a denser path for regulated workloads, AI inferencing, Linux consolidation and post-quantum security without abandoning existing infrastructure models already in place.
The new configurations mark a notable change in how IBM wants its highest-end enterprise systems to be bought and installed. For decades, IBM Z meant a certain physical and operational posture: specialized, controlled, expensive, deeply integrated into the core of [...]
📅 - Equinix Ends Bare Metal Cloud As AI Networking Takes Focus - Equinix will shut down Equinix Metal on June 30, ending its short run in bare metal cloud infrastructure and forcing remaining customers to unwind servers, networking links, billing records, and support paths. The move closes the Packet acquisition story and signals a sharper focus on Fabric, AI-era networking, and regulated edge deployments for enterprise buyers globally now.
The immediate impact is mundane, which is usually where infrastructure shutdowns become expensive. Customers have to remove IP addresses, Fabric virtual connections and VLANs before the service disappears, or risk paying for resources that remain attached after compute has gone. That is not a branding issue. It is [...]
📅 - Deloitte, IBM, Red Hat Target Automated Software Supply Chain Threats - Deloitte, IBM and Red Hat are tying Deloitte's cyber services to Lightwell, a remediation model aimed at shielding enterprise software supply chains as automated attacks shorten the time from vulnerability disclosure to exploitation, while giving companies a way to patch production open source components without immediately moving the applications that depend on them to newer stable versions.
The deal is less about another scanner and more about who owns the ugly middle of remediation. Enterprises already know their applications are stitched together from internal code, open source packages, and commercial software from vendors that may or may not move fast enough. The hard part is not [...]
📅 - IBM Debuts Sub-1nm Chip Technology For AI Compute - IBM has debuted sub-1 nanometer chip technology built on a 0.7 nm nanostack transistor design, claiming a path to denser, faster and more energy-efficient processors within five years. For businesses, the signal is not immediate procurement. It is a warning that compute roadmaps, AI costs and data center power assumptions may shift again sooner than planned today.
The claim is big. Almost uncomfortably big. A chip node below 1 nm, or 7 angstroms, sounds like the industry has found another hidden drawer in Moore's Law. IBM says the technology can place nearly 100 billion transistors on a chip roughly the size of a fingernail, close to twice the density of the 2 nm chip it showed in [...]
