Oct 3, 2006 : Carpathia Releases IPv6

📅 - Web hosting provider Carpathia Hosting (carpathiahost.com) announced on Monday it has released its fully native dual-stacked Internet Protocol version 6 network to all Carpathia customers within its Northern Virginia data centers. IPv6 has been developed by the Internet Engineering Task Force to replace the current version IPv4.

Now, Carpathia customers can announce IPv6 assignments from their current systems without having to use additional network interfaces. The upgrade to IPv6 was led in part by Carpathia customers in preparation for federal mandates that require many government agencies to migrate to IPv6 as early as 2007.

"Our VP of engineering Kevin Loch is leading Carpathia into the next generation of the Internet," says Carpathia CTO Scott Bethke. "Kevin deployed our first v6 test network in 2005 and has recently co-authored a new ARIN policy for enterprise IPv6 multi-homing that was adopted last may."

Carpathia Hosting provides enterprise application hosting for government agencies and businesses that require 100 percent application availability. By using dynamic technologies that remove hardware dependencies and improve efficiencies, the Web host says it aims to decrease operational costs while surpassing SLA requirements.
