Oct 25, 2006 : Rackspace Adds Microsoft Exchange

📅 October 25, 2006 - Managed hosting provider Rackspace Managed Hosting (rackspace.com ) announced on Tuesday it has added managed Microsoft Exchange to its solution portfolio, offering an on-demand and highly available deployment of the email and collaboration solutions.

The fully managed service offers Microsoft Exchange Server 2003, and customers only pay for the mailboxes they intend on using. Managed Microsoft Exchange offers messaging and collaboration solutions, combining advanced email with shared calendars, contact lists, public folders and task management features designed to enhance individual and team productivity.

"Like Web site infrastructure, messaging and collaboration is a critical corporate function that requires specific knowledge and management skills that are not core to most businesses," says Lew Moorman, senior VP of corporate strategy and product development for Rackspace. "Rackspace simplifies the technology and delivers it reliably to our customers as a service, removing the administration burden from their scarce in-house IT resources and enables them to focus on core business functions."

The company recently received positive customer feedback from its successful beta test of managed Microsoft Exchange, and is now hosting thousands of mailboxes for hundreds of customers worldwide.

Web analytics firm Netcraft recently called Rackspace was the most reliable hosting provider for September 2006.
