Latest Chips from Intel Used by Google in Data Centers First


📅 - Recently, Google announced upgrading servers in cloud data centers to the Intel Xeon processors in five specific regions. This project is codenamed Skylake and they are claiming to be the first cloud provider to do this.

Amazon announced it would be making the upgrade in early 2017, as well. Microsoft hasn't made announcements yet, but it's expected the data centers will be upgrades soon.

This specific processor allows for higher performance workloads, such as genomic research, data analytics, scientific modeling, 3D rendering and engineering simulations.
