📅 - HPE made a commitment to maintain the presence of OpenStack last July, but may not be holding true to this commitment anymore. The SUSE division of Micro Focus recently announced an agreement for HPE to give them OpenStack as a part of an agreed upon deal.
SUSE described this as a unilateral deal and HPE also is going to name SUSE as the preferred open source partner for OpenStack, Linux and Cloud Foundry.

📅 - Amazon Unveils New High Tech Cloud Services - With Amazon's cloud computing revenue expected to top $10 billion this year, the company has announced some new cloud computing products. On Wednesday, Amazon introduced Polly an image recognition service and Lex a speech-to-text service.
The products were introduced on Wednesday at the company's re:Invent conference by Andy Jassy, the CEO of Amazon Web Services unit. The event was the 5th annual and drew 32,000 attendees from many different sectors of the tech field.
Cloud spending in the public sector is expected to increase 17 percent this year, rising to over $204 billion.

📅 - Russia Accuses Foreign Governments of Planning Massive Cyber Attack - Russia's Federal Security Service is claiming that they have foiled a massive cyber attack that was aimed at the country's financial system. The Federal Security Service is Russia's main intelligence agency, the agency that took over for the KGB.
They are claiming today that they had received information detailing “plans by foreign secret services to carry out large scale cyber attacks from December 5.” The plot involved data centers owned by a Ukrainian hosting company, Blazing Fast.
FSB said in a statement that they were taking “the necessary measures” to “neutralize the threats to Russia's economic and information security.”
