Cisco Speeding Transition to Software by Cutting Workforce
📅 - Recently, Cisco Systems, Inc. announced plans to cut their workforce by about 7%. This will be done in an effort to rebrand the company as a software-based systems and services provider.
About 5,500 employees will be let go out of the more than 73,000 currently working for Cisco. They will use the money saved from the cut to help fuel sales growth in areas, such as cloud computing. The company believes this move will help them save about $700 million.

📅 - Survey Finds Customers Rank Security Highest in Cloud Provider Selection - Market saturation is well underway for cloud hosting in the small and medium sized business industry, B2B ratings and review site Clutch revealed in a survey released on Wednesday. The survey found that almost 75% of SMBs have changed hosting providers in the last 5 years. Thirty percent have done so during the last year.
The survey asked owners of more than 300 businesses that have between two and 1,000 employees found that 95% currently use a cloud hosting service or currently planning to transition to one – nearly complete market saturation.

📅 - New Google Cloud Services Announced - Google has launched new cloud database services Cloud SQL, Cloud Bigtable and Cloud Datastore today, following a positive beta test period.
Also released in beta form is Google's Microsoft SQL Server images, as another break at Microsoft's enterprise cloud market share. Google's features built-in or bring-your-own licenses, and upgraded storage services.

📅 - Eddie Bauer Latest in Malware Attack - Eddie Bauer, the outdoor clothing retailer is the latest company to fall victim to a point-of-sale malware attack. The company has admitted that many of their customer's credit card information has been stolen.
Eddie Bauer said that more than 300 of their stores in the U.S. and Canada had fallen victim to the malware attack.
