Russian Ecommerce Firm May be Ignoring Crime, According to Security Researchers
📅 - Deer.io, a Russian ecommerce shop has allowed dark web activity in the open, according to Digital Shadows, a threat intelligence and security analysis firm. Digital Shadows has alleged that many of the products sold by Deer.io are stolen or breached data. They also believe the company advertises in cybercrime and hacker forums.
Tessa88, a cybercriminal who breached both MySpace and LinkedIn is associated with darkside.global, which is hosted by Deer.io.
Deer.io provides secure and anonymous hosting, along with DDoS protection, side building and automatic payment systems. They have been referenced on Softpedia in connection with cybercrime, but no investigations are underway.

The report, titled Cloud complexity: The need for resilience shows that nearly three-quarters (72%) of organization executives see their organizations' resilience to tech risks as a growing priority looking into the next three years.
The executives also believe that moving workloads over to the cloud is going to be a key part of a proactive strategy for achieving resilience against technological threats.

📅 - Half of Corporate Data, Cloud Services Beyond IT Department’s Reach - A survey of more than 3,400 global IT and IT security practitioners found that nearly half of all cloud services and corporate data stored in the cloud are considered “Shadow IT,” or beyond the reach of IT departments.
The survey also found that 34% of data considered confidential on SaaS is encrypted – additionally, members of the IT security team are involved in about 1/5 of the choices between cloud applications and platforms.
The Ponemon Institute on behalf of Gemalto compiled the survey, released on Tuesday and aptly named The 2016 Global Cloud Data Security Study.

📅 - Quarter One of 2016 Grew By 12 Million Domains Registered, According to VeriSign - VeriSign released a Q1 2016 Domain Name Industry Brief, which showed the total domains registered, including all TLDs, has reached 326.4 million. This is up 12 million from Q4 of 2015 or a total of 3.8%. The total number of domains redirecting to popular ecommerce and social media sites grew significantly, too.
VeriSign processed a total of 10 million new .com and .net domains in Q1 2016. This is up 1.3 million compared to Q1 of 2015. Redirects to LinkedIn from a .com or .net rose by 35%, while those leading to Twitter, Facebook, Amazon.com and Etsy rose between 23% and 30% depending on the site. Weibo, a Chinese social media site, saw redirects jump by 49%.
