US House Blogs Yahoo and Cloud Services Due to Security Fears
📅 - Recently, the US Congressional Representatives and their staffers were blocked from using Yahoo or Google cloud services on the House of Representatives network. The block was put in place by the house IT team due to FBI warnings of security vulnerabilities. Separate incidents involving the Google cloud apps and Yahoo mail lead to the block.
The lawmakers and staffers received an email on April 30th warning of the potential of phishing attacks on the network. The attacks would try to install ransomware and would come from a third-party web-based mail application. Yahoo mail seems to be the focus of the attack and will be blocked on the House network indefinitely. .

📅 - Korea Trying to Bring in More Startups - The South Korean government has put its' sights on attracting more of the startups in the world. They are doing this through the “K-Startup Grand Challenge”. This is a scheme to offer 40 of the best startups in the world technology support and funding.
The challenge will start with 160 startups taking part in online competitions and events, which will be held in many major cities. After the events, the startups will go through interviews and pitching. The final candidates will be selected and will receive $4,100 per month for their three-man team, along with free round-trip flights to Korea.

The .cloud domain is based in Arezzo, Italy and it only took 24 hours for the first 20,000 to be registered. This happed right after the General Availability phase began on February 16th, 2016.

Three researchers founded the company to improve the AI technology learning and response patterns through real-world interactions.
Sony stated that the investment is part of a plan to build out its AI offshoot business and cultivate that into a larger part of its revenue.
