📅 - UK managed Web hosting provider Rackspace Managed Hosting (rackspace.co.uk -> rackspace.com) announced on Monday it has produced formula for the perfect Web site:

The company says key differentiators for the "perfect Web site" include ease of navigation, speed of page downloads, clean and simple design, functionality and the site always being live. Excessive, aggressive advertising is seen as a detractor.
On behalf of Rackspace, the Social Issues Research Centre researched and arrived at the formula, taking into account the results of a YouGov online survey of 2,500 adults, interviews and in-house qualitative research. The research sent 50 people on a "virtual treasure hunt" in which participants were asked to find specific pieces of information from different Web sites. The SIRC recorded the partipants' comments and preferences as they navigated the sites.
According to the research, 83 percent of respondents reported ease of navigation as being the most crucial factor in their ideal Web site, 62 percent claimed high speed was key, 49 percent rated functionality as a key factor. Eighty percent also said a clean and simple overall design was their most desirable site design element, while only 6 percent said an innovative use of flash and multimedia was important.
Following the findings from the YouGov survey, Rackspace created an online RateYourSite calculator using the SIRC criteria to measure a Web site's performance using the perfect Web site formula.
"Rackspace commissioned this study to better understand what the formula for online success is today, as part of our commitment to providing our own brand of customer service, fanatical support, to our clients," says Jacques Greyling, managing director of Rackspace Managed Hosting in the UK. "Furthermore, 25 percent of the formula highlights that any business wanting to run a perfect Web site must focus on speed and uptime, an area in which Rackspace Managed Hosting is a proven market leader. It will be interesting to revisit this in 12 months to see how the needs of Web users have evolved."
