Oct, 2015 : Data Centers Spend Billions to Drive Cloud Revenue Growth


📅 - Cloud services may seem great, but they are certainly not cheap to run. Data centers providing cloud infrastructure spend a large amount of cash to keep them growing.

IBM, Google, Amazon and Microsoft spend billions of dollars for hardware and servers every quarter. It's hard to figure out the exact amount each company spends, but Microsoft spent $1.5 billion last quarter just for cloud services. Google actually spend more with expenditures of around $2.4 billion just for equipment and data center construction.

There's even more to it than just the data centers these cloud giants own. Often, they rent from other data centers to fill in the gaps.
