Jan 4, 2006 : Web Host Globix Names New CEO

📅 January 4, 2006 - Web hosting provider Globix (globix.com) announced last week that Kurt Van Wagenen has been promoted to CEO of the company. In his new role, Van Wagenen will retain his responsibilities as president and COO.

Former CEO Peter Stevenson has left the company to pursue other business opportunities, but will continue to serve as a member of Globix's board of directors.

Van Wagenen joined NEON Communications in 2001 as VP of network and operations. In 2005, NEON merged with Globix and Van Wagenen was appointed COO of the NEON business, and was later named president and COO of the entire company. Van Wagenen also previously served in a variety of positions at Verizon Communications and its predecessors.

"I am very excited about Kurt's promotion to chief executive officer," says Ted Lodge, chairman of the board and executive chairman of Globix. "Kurt is a telecom industry veteran with intimate knowledge and understanding of NEON's history and potential. He has a great relationship with our customers and vendors, is a proven performer, and is a consummate professional."

Apache's share dropped from 69.97 to 67.39 percent. Microsoft, which holds the second largest market share, also dipped, going from 20.92 to 20.29 percent. Meanwhile, Sun lost ground while Zeus One gained. Netcraft's survey measures Web server software use on all Internet connected computers.
