Microsoft Offers OneDrive Customers 15GB of Free Cloud Storage
📅 - In an effort to attract more Office 365 customers, Microsoft is offering more cloud storage space to its subscribers.
On Monday the tech giant announced that OneDrive customers would be receiving more than double the amount of free storage currently offered, giving users 15GB instead of only 7GB.
“Our data tells us that 3 out of 4 people have less than 15GB of files stored on their PC,” wrote Omar Shahine, OneDrive Group Program Manager, via blog post. “Factoring in what they may also have stored on other devices, we believe providing 15GB for free right out of the gate — with no hoops to jump through — will make it much easier for people to have their documents, videos, and photos available in one place.”
Now Office 365 subscribers will get 1TB of cloud storage instead of the 20GB that was previously offered. This includes Office 365 Home, Office 365 Personal, and University customers.
Microsoft also lowered the monthly prices of its storage plans. Users purchasing 100GB will only be charged $1.99, down from $7.49, and 200GB will be $3.99, previously $11.49.
Current subscribers of OneDrive will be automatically moved to the new plans when the updates release next month.
