Open-Xchange, a provider of open source collaboration software, today announced an agreement with EuroDNS, a domain name registrar, to offer hosted e-mail and collaboration. According to the company, within the next month, more than 250,000 customers of EuroDNS will get both Open-Xchange webmail and PIM (Personal Information Management) at no additional charge with an option to move to full groupware, as well as support for mobile devices.
It states that Open-Xchange software integrates e-mail, calendar, contact and task management with advanced groupware features such as information management and document sharing. Productivity is enhanced through unique teamwork features, like team view, single-password document sharing, and shared calendars, contacts, tasks and documents.
The company further states that with recently introduced "Social OX" features, Open-Xchange also gives users the ability to consolidate any kind of existing webmail accounts, for example from Google and Yahoo, into a folder in Open-Xchange so they can be managed more easily. In addition, contact details from social networks such as Facebook, LinkedIn or Xing can be added automatically to the Open-Xchange address book, giving users easy access to the latest contact information within their personal network. Users can now integrate and merge their address books from Google Mail and Facebook into Open-Xchange, as well. It claims that Open-Xchange is used by users worldwide as hosted and on-premises business-class e-mail and groupware.
