HostV, a provider of managed Virtual Private Servers and Dedicated servers, yesterday announced it has added a new three year billing cycle option for all of its Virtual Private Servers and Hybrid servers. The company avers that the prepaid 36-month billing cycle enables customers to lock-in savings.
According to the company, unmanaged Virtual Private Servers now start at just $19.99 per month, which includes 512MB of RAM (recently doubled from 256MB), 50GB of RAID-10 protected storage, an additional 50GB ServerSnapShot backup, 1500GB of bandwidth, and a choice of five pre-installed Linux distributions. Managed Virtual Private Servers start at just $29.99 per month for the same array of features.
It mentions that Hybrid Servers, which come fully managed and combine the power and stability of enterprise-class servers with the cost-savings of virtualization, now start at just $129.99 monthly. The starting plan offers 2048MB of RAM (recently doubled from 1024MB), a whopping 300GB of RAID-10 protected storage, an additional 300GB ServerSnapShot backup, and 7500GB of bandwidth. The company adds that apart from the 3 year billing cycle, it has also introduced a 2 year billing cycle, which incorporates additional savings. Due to the time commitment, the 3 year billing cycle offers clients substantially the most savings.
It states that earlier this year, it introduced Ksplice Uptrack, allowing it to update Linux servers without rebooting. Linux kernel updates are automatically converted into rebootless update packages, and the company can simply apply the update remotely without causing a disruption or significant performance hit on the server.
