The Planet, a privately held dedicated hosting company, today announced the addition of a third server to its portfolio powered by Intel's Nehalem microarchitecture. The company states that the Xeon 3450, based on the Dell PowerEdge R210 platform, is now the most powerful single-processor server in the its fleet. It further states that the Xeon 3450 SATA is priced at $219 per month and the Xeon 3450 SAS is $244. For a limited time, customers can receive double the server's base RAM for free, or upgrade to 10TB of bandwidth for an additional $45 per month.

The company avers that the new single-processor server delivers features that ensure operational needs are met at every stage of business growth:
  • Innovative technology: The Xeon 3450 is based on Intel microarchitecture with an integrated high-speed memory controller for industry-leading performance
  • Power-saving architecture: Integrated Power Gates reduce idle CPU cores to near zero power for optimal efficiency
  • Performance: Server speed and application performance is enhanced with a CPU frequency of 2.66 GHz and up to 8MB L3 cache
