According to VMWare, its vCloud initiative is meant to deliver cloud computing services across a common platform, which supports the most existing applications, and "carries the distinctive mobility features only available from VMware."
Its VMware Service Provider Program is a framework that allows service and hosting providers to offer VMware's virtualization solutions in a way that fits with their business model, creating new opportunities for providers to offer virtualization enabled solutions, applications and services.
According to Opus Interactive's announcement late last week, its membership in the service provider program helps assure customers of the availability and quality of service for any application, whether running internally or as a service.
"This relationship with VMware validates our efforts to drive best-of-breed technologies that enable our customers to reach their business goals," Opus Interactive chief operating officer Jason Nuss said in a statement.
Opus Interactive's full-service data center provides virtual dedicated servers, full-scale migrations, VMware virtualized environment support, shared web and application hosting, firewalls, load balancing, and dedicated high-speed Internet access. Nuss notes that as its partnership with VMware will help further expand "the breadth of its custom hosting solutions while reducing its eco footprint."
Opus Interactive chief technology officer Eric Hulbert said that this partnership comes after years of significant investment in its virtualization environment. "With technologies from VMware, LeftHand Networks, and HP Blades we can truly provide on-demand, fully scalable, and redundant solutions," Hulbert said in a statement. "VMware's industry-leading virtualization platform is the foundation of our solution delivery."
VMware emerging business division product management director William Shelton said, "With the vClustr hosting environment from Opus Interactive, our enterprise and SMB customers can benefit from fully redundant and dedicated virtual environments. Opus Interactive enables these customers to deploy secure virtual machines, on demand, allowing for rapid scalability of infrastructure."
