Jan 12, 2009 : Syska Expands MDH's Chicago Facility
According to Managed Data Holdings' Monday announcement, Managed Data Holdings selected Syska to help keep to incorporate the most efficient, flexible and modern design into its Oak Brook, Illinois, data center "Stargate" (stargate.com) to accommodate current and future customer requirements. Founded in 1989, Stargate offers premium colocation, managed services and managed hosting solutions.
Currently, the facility has 16,000 square feet of mid to high-density raised floor space available. To be completed early this year, the full build-out will give the data center more than 65,000 square feet of usable floor space, with a focus on providing power and data redundancy, and low environmental impact.
The current phase of expansion, which is nearing completion, will bring 13,000 square feet of usable space, adding about seven megawatts of power to the facility, making a full suite of managed services available.
"This expansion and design, along with the investments we are making in our other data centers, allows us to provide the types of colocation, managed hosting and managed services that customers require for their critical systems in the most reliable manner," Managed Data Holdings chief operating officer Evans Mullan said in a statement. "In addition to our flexible and adaptable solutions ranging from cabinets to 5,000 square-foot secure microsuites, customers will get an environment meeting their expansion needs, within a secure data center of our size and capabilities."
Syska has built data centers clients ranging from moderately sized regional companies to Fortune 100 enterprises. Known for developing innovative cooling systems, in late 2007, it joined the non-profit environmental technology consortium, The Green Grid (thegreengrid.org).
