👈 Official Responses: 0 -> softlayer.com -> ibm.com) has ranked 475 on Deloitte's 2008 Technology Fast 500, a roster of the 500 fastest-growing technology, media, telecommunications and life sciences companies in North America.


The third consecutive year it has secured a spot on the list, according to The Planet's statement this week, The Planet was also number 41 on the Texas Technology Fast 50, which ranks the 50 fastest-growing technology firms in the state. Auditing, consulting, financial advisory, risk management, and tax services provider Deloitte (deloitte.com) bases its annual ranking on five-year revenue growth from 2003 to 2007.

"Our success is driven by providing customers with the power to choose from the broadest selection of hosting options in the industry," The Planet marketing and product management vice president Steve Kahan said in a statement. "Our goal is to deliver core IT infrastructure offerings that would otherwise be unaffordable for small and medium-sized businesses.... It is an honor to rank among the many prestigious companies on the North America Technology Fast 500."

Phil Asmundson, Deloitte technology, media and telecommunications division vice chairman and national managing partner, congratulated The Planet on its ranking. "Deloitte's Technology Fast 500 recognizes companies who have achieved extraordinary growth in North America's most innovative and competitive market sectors," Asmundson said in a statement.

According to Deloitte's report, many IT giants that are involved in web hosting have also made the list including Apple (apple.com), which made its first appearance on the Fast 500 this year. Google (google.com) has dropped to number 179 this year since debuting at number one in 2004. Search engine provider Yahoo (yahoo.com), online security provider Symantec Corporation (symantec.com) and networking and security solutions provider Juniper Networks (juniper.net) also made the list.
