Oct 27, 2008 : Keynote Offers Free Ride On KITE
📅 - On-demand test and measurement provider Keynote Systems (keynote.com) has opened its Keynote Interactive Testing Environment (or KITE) to Web developers, enabling them to use Keynote's Web application performance testing and analyzing infrastructure gateway to test worldwide end-user experience for free.
According to an announcement last week, KITE offers instant desktop testing and remote testing from a number of different geographic locations in North America, Europe and Asia. First launched in August and downloaded by more than 1,000 early adopters, KITE lets users upload Web transaction scripts to the Keynote global network and receive free performance data from 240 worldwide locations to continuously monitor and gather performance data globally.
"Cloud computing is opening new doors for Web developers, who can now focus on building an application and rely on other companies to handle the intricacies of deploying testing software or managing the underlying infrastructure that hosts their application,? Keynote product management and corporate development vice president Vik Chaudhary said in a statement. "With a Web application's performance depending on a variety of clouds' infrastructures, ad servers and other third party content, it's more important than ever for Internet companies to test and measure applications to ensure a superior end user experience."
According to Keynote, new computing models and IT infrastructure have improved the reach and agility of Web businesses, but they have also increased its complexity because of the growing number of applications, lack of interoperability standards and huge amount of proprietary code.
KITE helps with the development of new applications and when adding new features to ensure they work in the existing regional infrastructures.
Also, Keynote released the results of a survey of AJAX World Conference (ajaxworld.com) attendees last week that shows increased interest in SaaS and the cloud computing models of delivery, but also that companies find the more cost-effective application delivery models more attractive in the increasingly uncertain economy, according to the company.
