Oct 9, 2008 : Online Technologies Hosts DR Seminar

📅 - Data center operator Online Technologies (onlinetech.net -> ionos.com) annoucned on Wednesday it has partnered with UHY Advisors, Coretek Services, and Capricorn Diversified Systems to deliver a free educational seminar on disaster recovery and electronic backup for CIOs and IT Managers.

The seminar will be held October 16 from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Online Technologies? Exchange Drive Michigan Data Center in Flint Township, Michigan, and will also include lunch.

Disaster recovery is obviously a significant issue within the IT sector. A recent University of Texas study revealed that 43 percent of companies experiencing a catastrophic data loss never recover while over half of them go out of business within two years.

Last month, security software firm Symantec released the results of its fourth annual IT Disaster Recovery survey, which showed a "significant increase" in the number of businesses that are re-considering their DR plans because of virtualization.

The Disaster Recovery seminar will cover key issues for companies to consider when they design their DR strategy.

The key note speaker for the event will be Adam Goslin, vice president of information technology at Osiris Innovations Group, a Michigan-based on-demand procurement services company.

He will discuss Osiris' approach to delivering a secure and scalable disaster recovery solution, which is based on a software-as-a-service model.

Other speakers at the seminar include Rod Smith, principal at UHY, who will discuss his approach to disaster recovery planning; Yan Ness, CEO of Online Technologie, who will detail a disaster recovery decision framework for CIOs; Scott Vince, vice president of Capricorn Diversified Systems, who will talk about disaster recovery on a VMware & SAN Architecture; and Christopher Balk from Coretek Services, who will discuss how Microsoft tools can help manage the IT infrastructure.

Online Technoligies will offer an optional tour of its data center immediately following the seminar.
