👈 Official Responses: 0 -> softlayer.com -> ibm.com) announced on Tuesday it will be hosting the Houston Techxans quarterly CIO speakers forum (techxans.org/houston.htm) at its world headquarters in Houston on May 15. The event is scheduled to run from 7:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m.
Titled, "IT Compliance and Risk Management: Bridging the Gap on Governance, Risk and Compliance," the event features leaders who will provide advice from their own experiences in developing compliance frameworks for their organizations, says The Planet.
Last month, managed hosting provider Peak 10 hosted a similar executive event in its facility so area business leaders in North Carolina could come together to discuss market trends, information and experiences.
Speakers for the Techxans event include Craig Mullins, corporate technologist for Neon Enterprise Software, and Nick Ignatiev, systems engineer for Alert Logic, says The Planet. There will also be a panel on CIO strategies for IT compliance with panelists from IBM, BJ Services, Access Sciences and Texas Children's Hospital.
"Compliance continues to frame discussions inside every organization, whether publicly traded or privately held," says Steve Kahan, VP of marketing and product management with The Planet. "We use our facilities to host educational forums that benefit our community and the businesses that operate here. We welcome the Techxans organization as they work to provide thought leadership and information topical to the challenges faced today by technology companies."
Founded in 2000 - actually predating the launch of the NFL's Houston Texans, though one might reasonably imagine the Techxans' name to be a related witticism - Techxans is the largest technology executives network in the state, with more than 13,000 members and chapters in Houston, Dallas, Austin and San Antonio.
On Monday, The Planet announced it has upgraded its network operations center, enforcing a new standard by which all employees working in The Planet's NOC are required to hold the Cisco Certified Network Associate designation.
And last week, the company launched its new "virtual rack" solution, designed to make the features of its popular private rack solution available to customers running as few as two servers.
