👈 Official Responses: 0) announced on Wednesday it has launched its new corporate identity as "Rackspace." The newly-launched name drops the "Managed Hosting" portion, reflecting the company's new span of hosted services that supports multiple-sized organizations.
The new corporate identity reveals the company's shift into IT hosting, which incorporates transforming traditional IT utilities into consumable services via the Web. Rackspace says it now provides a portfolio of hosted IT services with greater value and more reliability, including virtualization, hosted mail, custom application support, back-end IT and storage. Rackspace's traditional managed hosting offering, its venture companies, Mosso, the Rackspace cloud computing brand and its Mailtrust email brand, also complement the new strategy.
"Rackspace has been focused on Fanatical Support since the beginning - it's in our DNA - and our new identity reflects that," says Lanham Napier, president and CEO of Rackspace. "Now we see the industry shifting to a service-based paradigm. Fanatical Support has been the key to our managed hosting success for the past nine years and will continue to propel us as we embark upon this new era of IT hosting."
The company says its new logo better represents Rackspace's people-centric culture and Fanatical Support, as well as highlights its transition from servers to services. Rackspace says it is expanding beyond the traditional hardware focus of the web hosting industry towards a services approach.
Last month, Markettiers4dc announced that its online response times have gone up by almost 350 percent since making use of Rackspace's partnership with PHP application solution provider Zend Technologies.
