📅 - IT security and management solutions provider Comodo (comodo.com) announced on Tuesday that wireless Internet service provider Tiamet Communications (tiametcomm.com) will recommend to its subscriber base the Comodo free desktop solution suite, including Comodo Firewall Pro. As part of the initial launch, Tiamet says that if any computer with Comodo's Firewall Pro is compromised with a virus, it will clean the system for free.
Tiamet Communications is a wireless ISP delivering Internet access and PC support services to underserved rural communities. The ISP is recommending Comodo desktop security solutions to its subscribers to ensure computers are safe from virus, hackers and other threats.
Phase 1 of its deployment, already in progress, will see the launch of a point-to-point secure 900 Mhz service, able to cover wide areas as is needed in rural communities. The rollout will include basic PC and security training in order to help customers maintain a safe and secure PC. Phase 2 will include free wireless Internet access in public areas. Tiamet will offer Comodo's TrustConnect, a service which enables users to create a secure wireless session in public wireless networks.
"Wireless Internet technologies are here to stay, and expanding broadband Internet access to all regions is an important initiative," says Melih Abdulhayoglu, CEO and chief security architect of Comodo "Tiamet understands that while customers want broadband access, there are with new risks which must be mitigated. By using Comodo desktop solutions (which are free), people can enjoy all the advantages of the Internet while remaining confident that they are secure and safe."
Comodo announced last week it has partnered with Intel to develop and launch a new type of SSL certificate, the Comodo Pro-Series SSL certificates.
