CommuniTech.Net President Wins Ernst & Young Emerging Entrepreneur Award

📅 July 3, 2001 - Gabriel Murphy, co-founder and president of CommuniTech.Net, one of the top fifteen Web hosting companies in the world, won the 2001 Ernst & Young "Emerging Entrepreneur of the Year" award for the Kansas/Western Missouri region today.

The award for business leadership is given to an outstanding emerging entrepreneur who is an owner/manager and is primarily responsible for the recent performance of the company and is an active member of top management.
Gabriel Murphy, at 25, is one of the youngest winners of this award. "This is an honor I will cherish for a long time to come," remarked Gabriel Murphy. "I believe our success stems from our solid plan of using an old economy business model within a new technology framework."
This is the eleventh anniversary for the Ernst & Young Entrepreneur of the Year awards. Local and national nominations are sought beginning in January throughout the region. Ernst & Young and sponsor representatives visit the nominees to see first hand their entrepreneurial spirit and to collect additional information for the judges. A nomination application is also submitted. Decisions are based on historical growth and market potential, their management capability and style, plus personal commitment, risk, passion and innovation.

📅 Feb 17, 2003 - CommuniTech Founders Sue Interland - According to reports released this week, the founders of Web hosting company CommuniTech.Net are suing Interland Inc. for $26.7 million, just one year after selling their business to the hosting giant in February 2002. Through the lawsuit, CommuniTech.Net co-founders Gabriel Murphy and Bryan Heitman allege that Interland has stalled the registration of the 5.375 million shares of stock Murphy and Heitman received through the sale of CommuniTech. 📅 Mar 11, 2003 - CommuniTech Legal Issues Continue - Following recent legal action against Web hosting company Interland by the founders of CommuniTech.Net Inc., which was acquired by Interland in 2002, former employee Jason Park has reportedly filed a lawsuit of his own against the hosting giant. Park reportedly claims that Interland unplugged four of his servers at CommuniTech, effectively shutting down his Web hosting company Bent Axis LLC. According to Park, who has been offering refunds to customers since the servers went offline in February, about 1,000 Web pages have been turned off as a result of the servers being taken offline. His lawsuit alleges that Interland knew when it bought CommuniTech about an agree
