Jul, 2001 : Altera Selects Exodus For Managed Hosting Services

📅 July 3, 2001 - Managed hosting company Exodus Communications today announced that Altera Corporation (altera.com), has chosen Exodus to host and manage its Internet operations.

Altera specializes in Programmable Logic Devices, or PLDs, which allow companies to produce System-On-Programmable-Chip (SOPC) solutions. Altera said it will use Exodus' solution delivery and optimal security features, including managed intrusion detection.
"Altera's SOPC solutions address its customers' needs from prototype to production," Exodus said in a release. "To successfully deliver on this commitment, scalable and reliable web-enabled information exchange and transactions among Altera, its customers and suppliers is vital."
"We chose Exodus to manage our Internet operations for several reasons including its proven track record in the hosting industry, its ability to get a company's Internet operations up and running quickly, its flexibility and its strong emphasis on security," said Dave Swan, Manager of Global Network Operations, for Altera. "By leveraging Exodus' hosting expertise, we are able to focus on our core competencies and continue to provide our customers, suppliers and employees with superior quality and service."
Exodus said that companies today are increasingly recognizing the need to outsource their Internet operations in order to reduce their total cost of ownership and focus solely on their core business. Citing a report a report from June 2001, the company said firms can save 25% to 80% of their Web infrastructure costs by hosting.
