Jul, 2001 : Marsh, AT&T Unveil e-Business Insurance Solution
📅 - Companies using AT&T's Internet Data Centers and managed Web hosting services are now eligible for e-business insurance from Marsh Inc., with preferred pricing and a streamlined approval process.
Recognizing the importance of e-business revenues to the success of many businesses, Marsh (mmc.com), a leading risk and insurance services firm, together with AT&T (att.com), developed Net Secure to provide a safety net for e-business risks. Marsh will handle all aspects of the insurance coverage, using an expedited qualification process through AT&T's hosting facilities.
Emily Freeman, senior vice president of Marsh, said: "Traditional business insurers are retreating from providing coverage for e-business activity and computer viruses," said Emily Freeman, senior vice president of Marsh. "Without e-business insurance, companies that are using the Internet and related technology may be left with limited or no protection for these risks."
Lloyds of London (lloyds.com) will be underwriting the program in some states, and offering AT&T's customers preferred rates and a faster approval process.
As part of the qualifying process, AT&T's security services personnel will perform an electronic "perimeter scan" to evaluate the security of a customer's e-business applications. If the scan indicates the need for security enhancements AT&T will charge the client directly for the work. Once a customer has met Marsh's policy standards, the insurance can be bound in two weeks.
Net Secure for AT&T provides coverage of up to $10 million. Additional coverage may be arranged through Marsh on a custom basis.
