Ebone Offers Broadband Network Provisioning In Just 24 Hours
📅 - Ebone (ebone.com) announced today a new initiative to deliver IP and optical backbone services to European networks in just 24 hours from the time the order is received.
The pan-European networking company says this is an industry first, shattering the previous standard provisioning times of 15-20 at best. Ebone will roll out its new policy with no increase to costs, and the service includes live on-site testing of every customer connection and includes Ebone's existing service level agreement.
"This initiative is another addition to Ebone's long list of industry firsts," said Duncan Lewis, Ebone CEO. Ebone hopes to give its customers a competitive advantage and more flexibility to respond to customer demand for fast, specialized services.
Recent research by the Yankee Group Europe (yankeegroup.com) shows that increased speed and more rapid delivery of bandwidth is the biggest technology issue identified by European businesses. Yet, the research confirms that customers who require additional broadband connections to sites that can only be reached by incumbent national operators are forced to vastly overpay for those services and often wait 20 weeks for delivery of those connections.
Along with other broadband operators, user groups, and the European Competitive Telecommunications Association, Ebone has developed a "Broadband Charter" asking European governments, national telecommunications regulators, the European Commission and the incumbents themselves to act on a number of specific recommendations to correct this situation.
Ebone's service will provide customers with backbone network capacity of up to 155Mbps of IP connectivity or 155 Mbps for clear channel across Europe plus the US within 24 hours of placing an order.
The service is initially available in Ebone facilities in 18 cities in Western Europe, Central Europe and Scandinavia.
