Jul, 2001 : Sony Picks Intel Online Services to Host ImageStation
📅 - Web hosting services provider, and wholly owned Intel subsidiary, Intel Online Services Inc. (intelonlineservices.com), announced on Thursday that it has been chosen by entertainment and electronics giant Sony Corporation (sony.com) to provide managed hosting services for the Japanese version of its ImageStation Web site.
Sony Launched ImageStation, an online service designed for the digital imaging community, in Japan in September 2000. According to Sony, customers can use the site to store and share digital photos and videos, build online photo albums and email pictures and greeting cards.
Intel Online Services says its AppChoice Managed Hosting Service provides customers like Sony with redundancy, security and flexibility in their Web site operation. The company says it also allows customers to reduce costs with its data storage service, which uses software and equipment from EMC Corporation, which enables them to consolidate their storage operations.
"Our AppChoice Managed Hosting Service is a unique solution that provides Sony with critical uptime needs for an unprecedented level of flexibility, reliability and performance," said Jon Antone, president and representing director of Intel Kabushiki Kaisha. "We are excited to be contributing to the success of Sony's ImageStation service."
