📅 - BellSouth (bellsouth.com) and Dell (dell.com) yesterday announced the availability of broadband enabled computer systems for new BellSouth FastAccess DSL customers.
The companies say this exclusive offer will provide consumers with a simplebroadband experience backed by the reliability and know-how of two marketleaders.
The broadband enabled PCs are pre-configured to support BellSouth FastAccessservice. Dell pre-installs each FastAccess DSL modem before shipping,allowing for a simpler installation with no extra wires or devices. Theoffer features three BellSouth FastAccess DSL-enabled Dell Dimensiondesktops, which consumers can customize and enhance with additionalcomponents and service offerings. In addition, customers are offeredsavings of $100, $200 or $300 based on which computer they choose. John Hamlin, vice president and general manager of Dell's U.S. consumerbusiness, said, "This alliance further demonstrates our commitment to makeit as easy as possible for customers to enjoy the benefits that computersand the Internet can offer. This makes high-speed Internet access virtuallyplug and play for customers."
BellSouth FastAccess Internet service works at speeds up to 50 times fasterthan a 28.8k modem. Users can also talk on the telephone and surf theInternet at the same time, at maximum download speeds of up to 1.5 Mbps andmaximum speeds from the user's computer to the Internet of up to 256 Kbps. Both companies have launched sales and marketing initiatives to promote thebroadband enabled computer systems.
