👈 Official Responses: 0), a rapidly growing provider of broadband communications services, yesterday announced it signed a multi-year, multi-location voice and data service agreement estimated to be worth more than $1 million, for Planet Hollywood (planethollywood.com), the worldwide developer of a movie and leisure consumer brand.
Under the agreement, XO will provide an array of integrated communicationsservices including hosting PlanetHollywood.com and providing dedicated Webhosting, a national Virtual Private Network solution, local voice servicesfor 22 locations and national long distance service to all of PlanetHollywood's 28 sites. Additionally, because XO uses a seamless nationwidebilling platform, Planet Hollywood will receive only one monthly invoice forall locations XO serves.
By using XO's newly enhanced VPN service, Planet Hollywood can communicatebetween all of its locations using private and secure voice and data"tunnels" through the public Internet at a significant cost savings comparedto a traditional private line networking setup.
Planet Hollywood is co-locating its VPN hardware in XO's data centerfacility in Irvine, California and will outsource VPN operations andmanagement to XO while still capitalizing on their own existing investmentsin network hardware. XO is also providing server co-location serviceoffering secure, controlled data center space, Internet connectivity, 24x7network application, server monitoring and disaster recovery to ensure theintegrity of Planet Hollywood's Web presence.
By combining XO VPN service with its dedicated hosting, Planet Hollywoodoperates a reliable infrastructure for application hosting and can power itschat room events that enable Planet Hollywood customers to communicate withvarious celebrities.
"We looked at the traditional players in the data and voice communicationsindustry and found each falling short of our need for simplicity, highservice levels and real cost savings. XO's depth of services, combined withits national infrastructure, bandwidth and security, are crucial to ourbusiness," said Tina Samson, Planet Hollywood's senior VP of finance.
"Planet Hollywood expects to add nearly $500,000 in savings to the company'sbottom line."
