Cisco Introduces New Voice and E-Com Network Management Solutions

(cisco.com), a worldwide leader innetworking for the Internet, today announced additions to its networkmanagement solutions with the availability of the CiscoWorks Voice-over-IP(VoIP) Health Monitor and enhancements to the CiscoWorks family targeted atconverged networks. Cisco today also announced the Cisco 1105 HostingSolution Engine for managing e-commerce data center environments.

Supporting Cisco AVVID - the Cisco Architecture for Voice, Video andIntegrated Data - these new solutions are designed to provide customerswith comprehensive management tools that maximize network performance anddrive e-business success.
The CiscoWorks VoIP Health Monitor is a new suite of integrated applicationsthat proactively monitors converged networks supporting VoIP. The suiteverifies VoIP system reliability by providing real-time status reports onthe voice "health" in converged networks, and notifying users of potentialproblems in the Cisco routed and switched infrastructure.
This management application suite consisting of Voice Health Monitor, DeviceFault Manager, and CiscoView supports more than 175 of the most common Ciscodevices, including Cisco routers, Catalyst switches, Cisco CallManager,router gateways, and in-line power cards. With this solution, users canmonitor network uptime and optimize performance of business-criticalapplications enabled by Cisco AVVID.
The VoIP Health Monitor complements other Cisco management solutions such asthe CiscoWorks QoS Policy Manager and CiscoWorks Service Management Solutiongiving customers a robust set of tools for converged network and policymanagement.
The CiscoWorks QoS Policy Manager provides centralized management andcontrol of network-wide QoS policies letting customers prioritizebusiness-critical traffic, such as voice. In addition to enablingrules-based setting of high-level policies, QoS Policy Manager now includesspecific VoIP policy recommendations for different areas of the network.
CiscoWorks Service Management Solution proactively tests and measuresend-to-end network service levels to maximize high-quality, economicdelivery of converged network services. This solution now lets customersmore effectively test the voice readiness of their network through theability to set SLA-specific threshold notification. This enables moreimmediate notification if voice or other business-critical service levelsare not being met minimizing downtime and increasing overall operationalproductivity.
Designed for comprehensive management of e-business hosting infrastructureand Layer 4-7 hosted services, the Cisco 1105 Hosting Solution Engine isspecifically geared for enterprise and service provider customers with e-business data center facilities. This turnkey, hardware-based solutionoffers integrated Layer 2-3 network infrastructure fault and performancemonitoring with Layer 4-7 hosted services monitoring and activation. Itprovides operational support for all Cisco routers, switches, server loadbalancers, and PIX firewalls.
With a flexible user security model, the Cisco Hosting Solution Engineextends its routine management capabilities to network administrators andother critical e-business personnel. By using the user security model,server managers tasked with managing the Web server farms can now accessfunctionality on Cisco load balancing devices where access was once limitedto the network administrator.
