👈 Official Responses: 0) announced yesterday the release of Plesk Server Administrator Version 2.0, a multi-platform, Web-based software tool that greatly increases the productivity of Linux and Unix administrators.

Using the PSA from Plesk, Inc. (http://www.plesk.com), even non-technical personnel can perform a variety of common server administration tasks, such as creating new email accounts and managing domains with point and click simplicity. The new product brings an ease of use to the Linux and Unix server administrator once only possible on the Microsoft platform.
Beyond basic administration of a single domain, Rackspace says the PSAproduct allows service companies, particularly virtual hosters and Webdesigners, to deliver faster and easier service to their clients by sharingserver management with them. Server owners can redistribute authority fordifferent tasks to their customers using the PSA's three levels of Webserver administration.
The Admin Level sets all supervisory rights and privileges for the server.The Reseller Client Level will allow Rackspace's virtual hosting customersto create hosting preferences for multiple domains and set limits at thedomain level, as well as set up value-added services - such as domainregistration - for their customers. The Domain Owner Level will give domainowners on virtual servers more freedom to manage their domains, enablingthem to create email accounts, use FTP services and administer domain SSLcertificates.
The PSA enables all of these features while erasing the risk ofmis-configuring a server because of a command-line typo. "This is somethingthat our customers have been requesting, and we have responded," said GrahamWeston, CEO of Rackspace. "Working with the leaders in the field ofautomated Web hosting software has allowed us to offer a first-class toolthat will make our customers' lives easier. This interface reduces thecomplexity of server administration so that anyone can do it in a snap. Ourcustomers will now be able to spend less time configuring their servers andmore time using them."
Plesk worked closely with Rackspace in developing the product. As anindustry-leading leading Linux host (more than 2500 Linux servers undermanagement), Rackspace had strong customer insights on developing theperfect panel for easy administration. Rackspace is a premier launch partnerfor the product, and Plesk will continue to rely on Rackspace feedback forproduct improvements. "Rackspace is an expert in the Linux market," saidDmitri Simonenko, chairman of Plesk. "Their insight helped to evolve theproduct to where it is today."
